Time • Talent • Treasure
As we enter the 2012 Stewardship Commitment Season, we humbly ask each church member to seek God’s will for their stewardship commitment through His Word and prayer. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says, ‘Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion for God loves a cheerful giver.’
Stewardship involves our entire lives, not just our money. Stewarding our time and talents, as well as our money, gives each of us the joyful opportunity to actively engage in building God’s Kingdom. Thomas Sealy said in Understanding the Spirituality of True Stewardship...
“When the Holy Spirit enlightens our minds concerning God’s love towards us, He motivates us to a holy response that is based on love; agape love restricts us from putting a value-limit on our gifts to God. Stewardship is a test of our lives toward God. When we are fully committed to the principles of stewardship, we no longer constantly monitor the clock when we come into His presence to worship Him; we no longer search the deep corners of our pockets or purses to find a dollar to put in the offering plate. Instead, we find ourselves planning our activities and budgets around God and not in spite of Him.”
Our Church, as wise and faithful stewards, carefully budgets the use of God’s resources. Our 2012 Church budget is $6,030,000. These resources will carry out our mission of: providing a place to corporately worship our Lord and Savior; providing a place to fellowship with other believers; teaching the commands of Jesus Christ, and making disciples for God’s Kingdom by going out into the world to seek and save the lost.
Please mark your calendar and plan to be a part of the following worship opportunities:
November 6
Prove the Tithe, Cheerful Giving Sunday — Each member brings a joyful offering to the Lord
November 13
Commitment Sunday — Return pledge card and bring canned goods for Caring Center
November 20
Victory Sunday & Ministry Visitation — We celebrate the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
May our First Baptist family glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by being wise and faithful stewards of the time, talents and treasures He has entrusted to us!
