"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing
love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.’” — Isaiah 54:10
Before Spencer was born, we would travel to either Andalusia to spend time with my family or Tuscaloosa to spend time with Stephanie’s family at Christmas. When we would go to Andalusia, I would always enjoy hearing my Granddaddy, a Baptist lay minister, read about the birth of Jesus from Luke 2. We kept this tradition going in our family by having Spencer read the passage when he was old enough to read. When Spencer was able to read this passage in front of his Great-granddaddy, it was special to me. I remember the look in my Granddaddy’s eyes when he first saw Spencer, his namesake, read this passage. True love was expressed.
God showed His love for us by first sending his Son to be born of a virgin (Luke 2), and then by having his only Son, Jesus, die on the cross to bear ours sins. To me, there is no greater love verse than John 3:16. Activity:
Please take time either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and have someone in your family read the Passage from Luke 2:1 – 21. Make this a yearly tradition that your children can pass down for generations.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the love You have shown us. Please use us so that others may see Your love through us. Amen.
Merry Christmas! Tim, Stephanie and Spencer Adams
